Benjamin Herman
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Artist
The alto saxophonist Benjamin Herman was born in London and grew up in Amsterdam. He founded the New Cool Collective, a group that mixes jazz with Latin, soul and dance music in the spirit of acid jazz. He also makes albums under his own name, such as Campert, with words by the poet Remco Campert, and Bughouse (2018), with the guitarist Reinier Baas. Herman is a fixture on Dutch stages and at festivals, and plays both hard bop and funky dance music.
