Cosa nuestra

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work

Cosa nuestra · Cosa Nuestra means Our Thing, and that suits an album made by a close-knit team. Willie Colón made the record together with singer Héctor Lavoe. Jerry Masucci, the boss of Fania, was producer, and Johnny Pacheco led the sessions. The band included Milton Cardona on congas, Santi González on bass and José Torres on piano, among others. Izzy Sanabria designed the sleeve, with a photograph by Henri Wolfe.

It was the duo's first record to go gold. La Gran Fuga, El Juicio and Lo Mato followed. In October 2024, Rolling Stone placed the album on its list of the fifty greatest salsa records of all time.
