Ixnay on the Hombre

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work

Ixnay on the Hombre, released on 4 February 1997, is the fourth album by The Offspring and their debut on a major label, Columbia Records. After the enormous success of Smash the band went into the studio in June 1996, for the first time not with Thom Wilson but with producer Dave Jerden. The move caused tension with Epitaph founder Brett Gurewitz, and for that reason the record was still released by Epitaph in Europe.

The album entered at number nine on the Billboard 200 and was well received by critics and fans. Four singles were released: All I Want, Gone Away, The Meaning of Life and I Choose. Pay the Man was recorded in these sessions but ended up later on Americana. Change the World elaborates on a hidden track from Smash and itself contains a hidden spoken fragment by Larry Bud Melman.
