Romantic?

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work

Romantic? was released in 1990 on Virgin Records and was the first album of new material in four years. Several producers worked on it, including Martin Rushent, who had helped the band on Dare and had walked away during Hysteria. Mark Brydon, later of Moloko, also produced a few songs. At that point the band was deep in a slump after the success of Dare nine years earlier.

That feeling comes through in The Stars Are Going Out, in which the band looks back on lost fame. The only real hit was the single Heart Like a Wheel, which reached number 29 in the United Kingdom. Soundtrack to a Generation followed as the second single. The album itself reached number 24. It was a commercial and critical low point, and Virgin ended the contract afterwards. For the next record the group switched to East West.
