Everywhere
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
Everywhere was recorded in New York on 8 July 1966 for the label Impulse! Trombonist Roswell Rudd got the idea for the record in February of that year, while playing in Archie Shepp's band in San Francisco. There he worked out which players and compositions he wanted to use. Alongside him we hear Giuseppi Logan on flute and bass clarinet, Robin Kenyatta on alto saxophone, two bassists, Lewis Worrell and Charlie Haden, and drummer Beaver Harris.
The record contains four long pieces of about twelve minutes each. Everywhere is by Bill Harris, Satan's Dance by Logan. AllMusic called the album intriguing, but far from essential. A KPCC reviewer praised Yankee No-How: the cheerful melody gives way to a group improvisation that works as a single whole. Todd Jenkins thought it was clearly the trombonist's show.
