Animals
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
Animals was released on 21 January 1977 and was Pink Floyd's tenth studio album. The band recorded it in 1976 at their own studio, Britannia Row in London, which they had just converted. The album continues the long tracks of Meddle and Wish You Were Here. Roger Waters wrote almost everything, with only Dogs written together with David Gilmour. Sheep and Dogs went back to pieces that the band had already played live.
It is a concept album about society in Britain in the mid-1970s, loosely based on George Orwell's Animal Farm. The lyrics divide people into dogs, pigs and sheep. Pigs on the Wing opens and closes the album. The cover shows an inflatable pig between the chimneys of Battersea Power Station. No singles were released, and the first reviews were mixed, but the album was later more highly valued.
