Infinite Search

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work

Infinite Search is the debut album by the Czech jazz bassist Miroslav Vitouš. It was released in 1970 on Embryo Records, with Herbie Mann as producer. He led a group with Joe Henderson on tenor saxophone, John McLaughlin on electric guitar, Herbie Hancock on electric piano and Jack DeJohnette on drums. On one track Joe Chambers plays the drums.

The same recordings later also came out under two other titles. In 1972 a remixed version was released as Mountain in the Clouds, with one extra track, Cérečka. The same version also came out as The Bass. In 2016 the journalist Paul Rigby wrote of the album that he was impressed by McLaughlin's improvisations, which fill every space like a school of fish.
