The Stars We Are

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work

The Stars We Are is Marc Almond's fourth studio album and was released in September 1988. It reached number 41 on the UK and number 144 on the US album chart and is his best-selling solo album. He recorded it at Matrix Studios in London, with his group La Magia and various guest musicians. Four singles came from it, including Tears Run Rings, his only solo record to reach the US Hot 100.

The album includes Your Kisses Burn, a duet with Nico recorded shortly before her death. The duet with Gene Pitney on Something's Gotten Hold of My Heart was recorded only after the album's release. It became a number one in the United Kingdom in early 1989 and was subsequently added to the CD and cassette.
