604

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work

604 is the debut album by the English electronic band Ladytron. It was released on 6 February 2001 in the United States by Emperor Norton and on 12 March in the United Kingdom by Invicta Hi-Fi. Lance Thomas co-produced the album, recorded it and mixed it. Some of the tracks had already appeared on earlier EPs: Miss Black and Her Friends, Mu-Tron EP and Commodore Rock. The title refers to the area code of the region around Vancouver in British Columbia.

The first single was He Took Her to a Movie, recorded for fifty pounds and featuring guest vocals by Lisa Eriksson. The song was inspired by The Model by Kraftwerk, and NME chose it as single of the week. Critics responded generally with praise, and the magazine Muzik made the record album of the month in March 2001.
