Mount A

Mount A is the debut album of the Icelandic musician Hildur Guðnadóttir. It was released in 2006 on 12 Tónar under the artist name Lost In Hildurness and was reissued, remastered, in 2010 by Touch, this time under her own name. The recordings took place in New York and in a house in Hólar, which was chosen for its good acoustics for cello.

The sound is a dark, somewhat repetitive soundscape. Hildur plays all the instruments herself: cello, viola da gamba, khuur, piano, zither, vibraphone and gamelan. The album has eleven pieces with short titles, from Light to You. Reflection lasts well over seven minutes, and You, the closing piece, more than ten.
