Zeichnungen des Patienten O.T. · Zeichnungen des Patienten O. T. is Einstürzende Neubauten's second studio album, released in 1983 by Some Bizzare Records and distributed in Germany by Rough Trade Deutschland. In the United States it was released in 1984 as Drawings of O. T. The title refers to Oswald Tschirtner, an artist with schizophrenia who lived in an institution and became known for his drawings.
The album shows more moods and sounds than the debut Kollaps. Besides the metallic clatter of hitting, scraping and plucking, the group uses found sounds, such as telephone conversations and the Hamburg fish market, and early forms of sampling. The bass guitar is conspicuously present but modestly played. Armenia features a sampled Armenian song, and the piece was later used in films by Michael Mann. The critic David Sheridan observed that the group was tending towards the conventional: the title song even has a chord progression.
