Dizzee Rascal released Showtime on 6 September 2004 in the United Kingdom, on XL, and on 14 September in the United States, on Matador. He recorded the album in 2003 and 2004, as the follow-up to his debut Boy in da Corner. Besides Dizzee himself, producers included Youngstar, Cage, Taz, Vanguard and DJ Wonder.

The album is grime with hip hop and has fifteen tracks. The singles were "Stand Up Tall", "Dream" and "Off 2 Work"/"Graftin'". It reached number 8 on the British albums chart and number 1 on the independent albums chart. The BPI certified it gold.
