Maths + English

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work

Maths + English is Dizzee Rascal's third album. It entered at number seven in England, one place higher than Showtime, and went gold. On Wanna Be, Lily Allen sings along, in a nod to the 1976 musical Bugsy Malone: her parts have the same arrangements as So You Wanna Be a Boxer. The American duo UGK take part on Where's da G's, and the rapper himself appeared on their 2007 record. Joss Stone was due to take part on Da Feelin', but the rapper found it too poppy with her chorus.

In 2008 Definitive Jux released the record in America. That version received the new songs G.H.E.T.T.O. and Driving, and a remix of Where's da G's by El-P.

Listening

Listening tip. In Wanna Be, listen to the parts Lily Allen sings: they follow the same musical line as So You Wanna Be a Boxer from the film Bugsy Malone.
