Taking Off
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
Taking Off by the saxophonist David Sanborn was released in 1975 on Warner Bros. Records. John Court produced the album and Don Hahn was the engineer. It reached number 19 on Billboard's Jazz Albums chart.
The album contains nine songs by various composers. Unless otherwise stated they are by David Matthews. Steve Khan wrote Butterfat and Duck Ankles, Coleridge-Taylor Perkinson 'Way 'Cross Georgia, Don Grolnick The Whisperer and Randy Brecker It Took a Long Time. At six and a half minutes, Black Light is the longest track. Most of the other tracks last between three and five minutes, which gives the record a compact and varied character.
