Risqué
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
Risqué is Chic's third studio album and was released in July 1979 on Atlantic. Producers Bernard Edwards and Nile Rodgers recorded everything at The Power Station in New York, with additional work at Electric Lady Studios. The album contains three hits: Good Times, My Forbidden Lover and My Feet Keep Dancing. Good Times reached number one on the US pop and R&B charts. In My Feet Keep Dancing, tap dancers tap along.
Reviewers praised the lyrics and the tone. The beat sounded firmer and the vocals were arranged to demand attention. A BBC reviewer called the album Chic's most sustained artistic statement, a celebration of a 1970s that collapsed under its own excess. Risqué also influenced hip hop, art rock and new wave. Good Times was widely sampled, most famously in Rapper's Delight by The Sugarhill Gang, the first rap single in the top 40.
