Landed
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
Landed is the sixth studio album by the German Krautrock group Can and was released in September 1975 on Virgin Records. It was recorded at Inner Space Studios in Weilerswist near Cologne, where Holger Czukay led the recording. For the first time the group used a 16-track recorder instead of a two-track machine. This allowed them to layer more sounds, and Czukay spoke of the first professional mix. The title refers to the landing after the previous record, Soon Over Babaluma.
On Red Hot Indians, two sax solos by Olaf Kübler of Amon Düül can be heard. Hunters and Collectors was released as a single in Germany. Critics were divided: one reviewer found the record straightforward, another called it the group's last great one. Irmin Schmidt himself was unhappy with the harsh mix of the A-side.
