I Am… Sasha Fierce

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work

I Am… Sasha Fierce · Beyoncé recorded this third solo album between November 2007 and August 2008, with Stargate, The-Dream, Ryan Tedder and Babyface, among others. It was originally a double album meant to show two sides of her. The first disc, I Am..., contains quiet pop and R&B ballads with influences from folk and alternative rock, and she used instruments she was not used to, such as acoustic guitar. The second disc is named after her stage alter ego Sasha Fierce and contains faster tracks with electropop and Europop.

If I Were a Boy and Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It) became the best-known singles, and Single Ladies reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Reviews ranged from mixed to positive, but the album reached number one on the American album chart. At the Grammy Awards it received seven nominations, including Album of the Year, and won five.
