Arrival
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
When ABBA began work on their fourth album in August 1975, the group was only moderately well known worldwide. Arrival brought their international breakthrough. Recording ran until September 1976 at Metronome and Glen studios in Stockholm. The first track to go into the studio was Boogaloo, inspired by the disco sound of the moment. With new lyrics it became Dancing Queen, later the group's biggest hit. Knowing Me, Knowing You and Money, Money, Money also came from this record.
The songs were tinkered with a great deal. My Love My Life became a lush ballad with backing vocals inspired by I'm Not in Love by 10cc. The last track to be recorded was an instrumental piece that was first called Ode to Dalecarlia and was given the title of the album. In 1977 Arrival was the best-selling album in the United Kingdom. In 2024 the Library of Congress added it to the National Recording Registry.
