Dancing Queen
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Song
On 16 August 1976 ABBA released Dancing Queen. After a piano glissando, the song begins not with a verse but with a piece of the chorus: You can dance, you can jive. The listener hears the strongest moment straight away. Only then does the verse follow, about a Friday night on the dance floor. It was ABBA's only number one in America. Benny and Björn worked like a hit factory of their own.
Listening
Listening tip. The chorus begins even before the verse. A hit that starts right at its strongest point.
