Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z… · His second solo album was released in February 1993, after the success of the film Juice. It was recorded in Richmond, Los Angeles and New York. A follow-up to his debut had already been planned in early 1992, but Time Warner rejected it after an uproar over the lyrics. Several tracks from it, such as Keep Ya Head Up, I Get Around and The Streetz R Deathrow, ended up on this album.

It sounds less underground than the first album and became his breakthrough. It contains commentary on social issues and on Dan Quayle, who had criticised the rapper for his violent lyrics. The singles Holler If Ya Hear Me, I Get Around, Keep Ya Head Up and Papa'z Song each received a video. Critics were largely positive. Greg Tate called it his best-constructed and most political album. According to AllMusic, the production occasionally falters, but the record presents a rapper who is growing.
