Nederhop
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Genre
From 1990 Osdorp Posse of Amsterdam began rapping in broad Amsterdam dialect: hardcore rap about the street and the city. In 1995 Extince of Oosterhout scored the first Dutch-language hip hop hit with Spraakwater. After 2000 Nederhop grew into one of the country's most important genres, with De Jeugd van Tegenwoordig and Typhoon, among others.
Listening
Listening tip. Listen to Spraakwater for how smoothly Dutch rhymes and swings over a relaxed funk beat.
