Jump blues
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Genre
Jump blues is the swing of a small band with horns: fast shuffles, boogie-woogie on the piano and a singer who entertains the audience. In the 1940s Louis Jordan and His Tympany Five scored one hit after another with it, such as Caldonia (1945). Rhythm and blues and rock 'n' roll grew out of jump blues.
