From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Genre
Cha-cha-chá · The cha-cha-chá is a slower and easier-to-dance offshoot of the mambo, devised by the violinist Enrique Jorrín of the Orquesta América in Havana. La Engañadora (1953) is regarded as the first piece. The name comes from the shuffling of the feet on the three quick steps.
