Johannes Brahms
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Artist
Johannes Brahms came from Hamburg, was announced by Robert Schumann at the age of twenty as the new master, and later settled in Vienna. He remained faithful to classical forms such as the symphony, the sonata and the variation, and was thus regarded as the counterpart to Wagner and Liszt. His Ein deutsches Requiem from 1868 uses not the Latin Mass for the dead but German Bible texts that comfort the bereaved. Clara Schumann remained his most important friend and adviser throughout his life.
