Hans Dulfer
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Artist
The tenor saxophonist Hans Dulfer from Amsterdam has been playing a raw mixture of jazz, funk and soul since the 1960s. On his records he constantly sought new combinations, including with Latin musicians and punk musicians. He is one of the best-known figures of the Amsterdam jazz scene and still performs, regularly with his daughter Candy Dulfer. He likes the contrast between jazz and pop music, and likes to seek out audiences outside the jazz clubs. His tone is big and loud, with plenty of blues and a touch of humour.
