De La Ghetto is the stage name of Rafael Castillo Torres, an American singer and rapper who was born in 1984 in the Bronx in New York. His father was Dominican and his mother Puerto Rican. In 2004 he met Arcángel, who also came from New York, and together they formed the duo Arcángel & De la Ghetto. Their first single Ven, Pégate appeared in 2005 on Naldo's mixtape Sangre Nueva. He then signed to Zion's label Baby Records.

Music and breakthrough

In 2006 he began a solo career. The following year two hits appeared, a remix of Siente el Boom by Tito el Bambino and Sensación del Bloque with Randy, which has since been viewed more than two hundred million times on YouTube. His first solo album Masacre musical came out in 2008. Later came Geezy Boyz: The Album in 2013, Mi movimiento in 2018 and Los chulitos in 2020. Mi movimiento was nominated for a Latin Grammy for Best Urban Album in 2019, and the song Caliente also received a nomination.
