National Philharmonic Orchestra & Charles Gerhardt · Het National Philharmonic Orchestra was een Brits orkest dat alleen voor opnamen bestond. Charles Gerhardt, producent en dirigent bij RCA Records, richtte het op samen met orkestleider Sidney Sax. Het begon in 1964 onder wisselende namen, waaronder RCA Victor Symphony Orchestra, en kreeg in 1971 de naam National Philharmonic Orchestra. Voor het orkest werden de beste musici uit Londen aangetrokken, soms zelfs concertmeesters van andere grote orkesten. Het nam op voor RCA, Decca en Columbia.

Gerhardt maakte met producent George Korngold voor RCA Red Seal een serie stereoopnamen van Hollywoodfilmmuziek, de Classic film scores. Het orkest speelde ook op soundtracks van onder anderen Jerry Goldsmith en Maurice Jarre en nam werk van Bernard Herrmann op. Later is het orkest opgeheven. In de Droomfabriek komt het voor bij fragmenten als King Kong, Casablanca en The Sea Hawk.
