Gustavo Santaolalla

Gustavo Santaolalla (geboren in 1951 in Argentinië) begon in de jaren zestig met de rockgroep Arco Iris en werd later een invloedrijke producer van rock en español. Zijn filmwerk begon met Amores perros (2000) van Alejandro González Iñárritu. Zijn muziek is sober: een paar tonen op gitaar of op de ronroco, een klein Andes-snaarinstrument, met veel ruimte en stilte. Voor Brokeback Mountain (2005) en Babel (2006) won hij twee jaar na elkaar een Oscar. Voor de game The Last of Us (2013) gebruikte hij hetzelfde kale, akoestische geluid, en dat bracht hem ook naar de televisieserie. Hij bewijst dat weinig noten veel emotie kunnen dragen.
