Eve
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
Eve is the fourth studio album by the Alan Parsons Project, released on 27 August 1979 by Arista. The plan was at first an album about great women from history, but it grew into a broader record about the strength of women and the problems they encounter in a man's world. Chris Rainbow sang with the group for the first time, and the sleeve is by Hipgnosis.
The opening instrumental Lucifer became a big hit in Europe and is the theme tune of the German TV programme Monitor. Damned If I Do reached the American top 40. At the beginning you hear Morse code that Parsons picked up from shortwave radio without knowing what it said. Singers such as Clare Torry and Lesley Duncan, who were also heard on The Dark Side of the Moon, share the lead parts. Critics praised the production. Parsons later said that the record was criticised for supposedly being too macho.
