Trap Muzik

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work

After the disappointing sales of I'm Serious, the rapper T.I. was dropped by Arista. In 2002 he started his own label Grand Hustle with Jason Geter and signed with Atlantic Records. Trap Muzik came out on 19 August 2003, with DJ Toomp as executive producer. Producers also included David Banner, Jazze Pha and Kanye West. Guests include 8Ball and MJG, Bun B and Mac Boney.

With the title he points to the trap, the place where drugs are sold. He wanted to show life there from all sides. The singles 24's, Be Easy, Rubber Band Man and Let's Get Away became hits. Rubber Band Man stood out for a rising organ riff by David Banner. The album entered at number 4 on the Billboard 200 and went platinum. The reviews were favourable and saw it as a considerable improvement on his debut.
