In Rainbows
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Album
After the end of the EMI contract in 2003, Radiohead no longer had anything to deliver. The band began In Rainbows in 2005, at first without producer Nigel Godrich. The sessions went slowly, even a collaboration with Spike Stent produced nothing, and management even suggested stopping. A tour in 2006 helped to finish the new songs, and Godrich returned. Recording took place in country houses such as Halswell House and Tottenham House, at the Hospital Club in London and at their own studio in Oxfordshire. The lyrics are more personal and less political than before.
In October 2007 the album was released as a download for which fans set the price themselves. That was a first for a major band. Singles were Jigsaw Falling Into Place and Nude. The album won a Grammy for Best Alternative Music Album.
