I Feel the Spirit

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work

I Feel the Spirit is Prince Buster's debut album from 1963. Blue Beat Records released it in Great Britain, and it was the first ska album to be released outside Jamaica. All twelve tracks are his own. The Drumbago All Stars, the Les Dawson Blues Unit and the Rico Rodriguez Blues Band provided the backing.

The best-known tracks include Madness, They Got to Come, Wash Your Troubles Away and Black Head Chinaman. The song Madness was covered in 1979 by the British ska group Madness, who made a single of it and put it on the album One Step Beyond. The cover photo is by Dezo Hoffmann.
