Libra Scale

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work

Libra Scale was released in Japan first, in October 2010, then in the United Kingdom, and on 22 November in the United States, as Ne-Yo's fourth album. It is a concept album. He drew inspiration from science fiction, comics and Japanese animation, and from Michael Jackson, especially Thriller, Moonwalker and Bad. At first he thought of a short film, but because of time and money it became six extended music videos. The story is about three garbage men, including Jerome, who gain power and fame on condition that they never fall in love. The title refers to his star sign.

The singles were Beautiful Monster, Champagne Life and One in a Million. Rolling Stone called it in effect a tribute album to Michael Jackson. Other critics found the story a little silly but thought the electronic tracks the strongest.
