Sigh No More
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
As the debut album of the British folk rock band Mumford & Sons, Sigh No More was released in the United Kingdom on 2 October 2009. In the United States and Canada the record followed only in February 2010. Markus Dravs produced. The four band members swap between banjo, double bass, mandolin, accordion, organ and drums, and guest musicians joined for strings and brass. Little Lion Man was the first single, followed by Winter Winds, The Cave and Roll Away Your Stone.
The album was a slow burner. It entered at number 11 in the British chart and reached number two only after more than a year, after it won the Brit Award for British Album of the Year in February 2011. It had earlier been nominated for the Mercury Prize. Critics responded generally positively. In the United States it also reached number two on the Billboard 200 in early 2011.
