I giorni · I Giorni was released in 2001. The title means The Days in English. The album contains fourteen pieces by the Italian pianist Ludovico Einaudi. Four of them are named Melodia Africana or Canzone Africana, numbered I to IV, and they recur between the other pieces.

The title track received the most attention much later. In June 2011 Greg James played it on BBC Radio 1, and on 12 June it reached number 32 on the UK Singles Chart. The piano version had already been used in a BBC advertisement for arts and culture programmes. Airtel, an Indian telecom company, also used the piece in November 2010 for the launch of its 3G services. In 2016 it was heard in an Amazon Prime commercial. In 2022 the single was certified gold in the United Kingdom.
