The Last Encore

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work

The Last Encore is the fourth album by the Dutch progressive rock group Kayak. It came out in 1976 on Vertigo Records. The line-up consisted of singer Max Werner, guitarist Johan Slager, keyboardist Ton Scherpenzeel, bassist Bert Veldkamp and drummer Pim Koopman. Werner sings almost all the songs; Koopman sings the last one himself, Well Done.

Besides the usual instruments, you hear Mellotron, accordion, marimba and zither, among others. In the Netherlands Still My Heart Cries For You and Do You Care were released as singles, but neither reached the top 40. After this album Koopman left to become a record producer. In 1999 he returned. In the United States the record was not released. There, Janus Records released an album titled Starlight Dancer, with songs from two European records.
