Big Sounds of the Drags

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work

Big Sounds of the Drags is the second album by the Dutch electronic musician Junkie XL. It was released in 1999 on Roadrunner Records. The cover shows the Funny Car named Black Magic, a 1977 Chevy Vega belonging to RC Sherman. A reissue with a different track selection followed in 2000.

The album is a mixture of electronic music with guitars by, among others, Dino Cazares and Max Cavalera. Tom Holkenborg, the man behind the project, produced and programmed most of it himself, with vocals by Patrick Tilon. The music found its way into other media: Synasthesia, Dance USA and Future in Computer Hell (Part II) appeared in the racing game Test Drive: Overdrive, Action Radius in Need for Speed: Underground, and Zerotonine was heard in the film Buying the Cow.
