John Fogerty
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
After his solo debut The Blue Ridge Rangers in 1973, John Fogerty released his second solo album in 1975. In the United States it came out on Asylum Records, internationally on Fantasy Records. As on the Creedence Clearwater Revival records, there is a mixture of original songs and covers. The title is simple, but he calls the album Old Shep, after his dog Shep, who appears with him on the cover.
Two songs from this album were made famous worldwide by other artists. Rockin' All Over the World became one of Status Quo's best-known songs in 1977. Dave Edmunds recorded Almost Saturday Night, and it became a fixture in his repertoire. The covers include Lonely Teardrops and Sea Cruise. In 2021 the record was reissued on CD and streaming via BMG, for the first time in North America since the late seventies.
