Saturday Night

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Song

In 1978 Herman Brood and his band Wild Romance had a hit with Saturday Night. Brood was a pianist, a painter and the first real rock 'n' roll star of the Netherlands, who openly lived the way he sang, with drugs and scandals. In 1979 he tried to conquer America, without much success. His lifestyle ultimately proved fatal: in 2001 he jumped from the roof of the Hilton in Amsterdam.

Listening

Listening tip. Saturday Night is raw rock 'n' roll with piano. Listen for Brood's hoarse voice and the driving guitars.
