Virðulegu Forsetar

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work

Virðulegu Forsetar, in Dutch Geachte voorzitters (roughly "Honourable Chairmen"), is the second studio album by Jóhann Jóhannsson, released in 2004 by Touch Music. It consists of a single ambient-influenced classical piece in which the same phrase keeps returning. For technical reasons it is divided into four parts.

The work was made for an ensemble conducted by Guðni Franzson, with The Caput Ensemble, wind instruments, organ, bass and electronics, while the composer himself played piano and electronics. After his death in 2018, his friend Adam Wiltzie organised a memorial concert at which the piece was performed, on the day he would have turned 49, in a church in Brussels.
