Farewell, Angelina
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
Farewell, Angelina is Joan Baez's fifth studio album and was released in late 1965. It reached number ten on the Billboard Pop Albums chart. For the first time there is electric accompaniment on a record by the singer, in the form of Bruce Langhorne's electric guitar. Others playing include Russ Savakus on bass and Ralph Rinzler on mandolin.
The title comes from a song by Bob Dylan, which is also the opening track here. There are four Dylan songs on it, two of which were not officially released by him until 1991. There is also work by Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger, including a German version of Where Have All the Flowers Gone. The cover photograph is by Richard Avedon. AllMusic saw the album as part of the growth of folk rock in the 1960s.
