A New Stereophonic Sound Spectacular

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work

A New Stereophonic Sound Spectacular · Hooverphonic's debut album was released on 29 July 1996 on Columbia Records. The Belgian band was then still called Hoover, and the album appeared under that name. It is the only album with the singer Liesje Sadonius. Four singles came from the record: Wardrope, 2Wicky, Inhaler and Barabas. In 1997 an American release followed on Epic Records.

2Wicky contains a sample of Isaac Hayes's 1969 version of Walk On By, and a sample of Le Voile d'Orphée by Pierre Henry. Plus Profond was remade for the record because the original version contained a sample that could not be cleared. In 2011 a deluxe edition appeared as a box set, with the album on CD and LP, two CDs of remixes and rarities, and a book of essays by the band members.
