België

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Song

In 1982 Het Goede Doel, the Utrecht band around Henk Westbroek and Henk Temming, had a hit with België, synth-pop in Dutch. The chorus consists of questions that seem to be about nothing at all. After Doe Maar, dozens of Dutch-language bands followed within a few years. This is how Nederpop came into being in the sense the word usually has today: Dutch pop music in the Dutch language.

Listening

Listening tip. Listen for the synthesizers and the cool vocals, with a chorus full of questions.
