From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work

Grace Jones released the album Fame in 1978, which appears as The Fame in streaming catalogues. It is her second studio album. Island Records released it on 7 June 1978. The producer Tom Moulton recorded it in 1977 and 1978 at Sigma Sound Studios in Philadelphia. John Davis handled the arrangements and played keyboards, Jimmy Williams played bass and Keith Benson drums.

It is a disco record. Side A is one continuous medley of "Do or Die", "Pride" and "Fame", together almost nineteen minutes long. "Do or Die" became a club hit in the United States and Canada. The album reached number 97 on the American Billboard 200 and number 5 on the Canadian dance chart of RPM. AllMusic gives it three out of five stars.

Listening

Listening tip. Listen to the start of side A: "Do or Die", "Pride" and "Fame" flow into one another without a pause, as in a club set. Try to hear where one track ends and the next begins.
