Haus der Lüge

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work

Haus der Lüge is the fifth studio album by the German group Einstürzende Neubauten. It was released in 1989 on Rough Trade Records and later reissued by Some Bizzare in England, by the band's own label Potomak in Europe and by Thirsty Ear in the United States. The five band members are Blixa Bargeld, Mark Chung, Alexander Hacke, N.U. Unruh and F.M. Einheit. Bargeld sings and plays guitar, Hacke also plays guitar, Chung plays bass, and Unruh and Einheit beat on percussion.

The album opens with Prolog and Feurio!, followed by Fiat Lux and Der Kuss, among others. Fiat Lux lasts well over twelve minutes and consists of three parts. In the part Maifestspiele we hear recordings the group made at a demonstration in Kreuzberg in Berlin on 1 May 1987. Critics were positive. Trouser Press thought it a much stronger album than Fünf, and Ned Raggett of AllMusic wrote that the group closed the decade at a peak.
