One of These Nights
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
At the end of 1974 the band began work on their fourth album. Many songs came about in the house in Beverly Hills that Glenn Frey and Don Henley shared, including One of These Nights, Lyin' Eyes and Take It to the Limit. Frey called it the smoothest and most painless record they ever made. Even so, discontent grew in Bernie Leadon, who did not want to follow Frey's rock direction. It was the last album with the original line-up; Joe Walsh took his place afterwards.
The record was the commercial breakthrough: it reached number one in the United States and yielded three top-ten singles. Randy Meisner sings Take It to the Limit, and on Visions Don Felder sings the lead part, the only time he does so.
