From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
Enter is the first studio album by Cybotron, the Detroit duo of Juan Atkins and Richard '3070' Davis, formed in 1980. It was released in 1983 on Fantasy Records, with the guitarist Jon-5 (John Housely) also taking part. Atkins and Davis produced it themselves. The first pair of singles, 'Alleys of Your Mind' and 'Cosmic Raindance', came out in 1981 on Atkins' label Deep Space. 'Cosmic Cars' followed in 1982 and 'Clear' in 1983. The track list on this page is that of the 2013 reissue with extra versions of 'Cosmic Cars' and 'Techno City', among others.
The music is electro, with techno as a later consequence. AllMusic gave the album five stars. Pitchfork called it 'widely considered to be where Detroit techno began'. In 1985 Atkins left the group after creative disagreements with Davis. He started a solo career and later Metroplex. In 1990 Enter was reissued under the title Clear.
