Rufusized
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
Rufusized is the third studio album by the Chicago funk band Rufus and was released at the end of 1974 on ABC Records, already the second album of that year. Since 1972 Chaka Khan had been the singer, after Paulette McWilliams left. After the success of Rags to Rufus, the band's breakthrough, the group quickly went back into the studio to keep up the momentum. She now contributed more often as a writer, including on instrumental pieces. Bob Monaco produced.
The record reached number 2 on the R&B chart and number 7 on the pop chart and sold a million copies. Once You Get Started and Please Pardon Me were hits, and Somebody's Watching You, Pack'd My Bags and I'm a Woman are regarded as favourites on the album. I'm a Woman appeared four years before I'm Every Woman. The band ended 1974 as newcomers and began 1975 as headliners.
