Unison

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work

Unison is Céline Dion's ninth studio album and her first in English. Columbia and Epic released it on 2 April 1990. CBS initially offered a modest budget of 25,000 dollars to put English vocals over existing tracks from Incognito. Thanks to the duet Can't We Try with Dan Hill, her performance of Have a Heart at the 1987 Juno Awards and David Foster's interest, the budget rose to 600,000 dollars. It was recorded in London, New York and Los Angeles.

The album combines dance pop and soft rock. Where Does My Heart Beat Now became her first major American hit and reached number four on the Billboard Hot 100. The reviews were mostly positive. At the 1991 Juno Awards Unison won the award for Album of the Year.
