Wow!

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work

Wow! is the fourth studio album by Bananarama, released on 7 September 1987 on London Records. It was written and produced entirely with the trio Stock Aitken Waterman, led by Pete Waterman. The sound thereby shifted towards dance-oriented Europop.

The collaboration did not go smoothly. According to Matt Aitken, the group's input in the writing was small, and Siobhan Fahey often clashed with Waterman. Five months after its release she left the group. The album includes I Heard a Rumour, according to one reviewer an example of hi-NRG pop, and a version of the Supremes' Nathan Jones. The album reached number 26 in England and number 1 in Australia. In 2018 Classic Pop named it the second-best record by Stock Aitken Waterman.
